Sometimes we come to love somethings or people so much that it becomes very difficult to do away with or get rid of them. Some may be hurting us and not aiding in anyway to adding value to our lives. Holding on to these things maybe harmful . Here are some 5 five things to quit right now:
1. Trying to please everyone.
You should know that you can’t please everyone. You don’t need to live your life to suit other people’s interests. Don’t be afraid to loose people. Be afraid of losing yourself. Only live to please God not man as the Bible says in Colossians 3:17, ”And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him”. And also recorded in Colossians 3:23,that, ”Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart,as working for the Lord, not for men.
2. Putting yourself down.
The more you speak negatively ,you call them in.Stay positive. Never put yourself down. You are unique in your own way. You don’t have to be like other people to be great. God created you in a unique way just like anyone else. There is no one like you. Don’t be intimidated or discouraged by other people’s success or way of life. Look up and trust in your maker(God). Quit putting yourself down.
3. Living in the past.
Your past is meant to serve as lessons and not as a dwelling. One good thing about the past is that, it should make you grateful. Don’t let the darkness of the past cover the brightness of the future. Your past is done, so forget it. Your future is yet to come, so dream it.
4. Fearing change
Sometimes it is very difficult to change from additions, obsessions and anything that makes us feel good though not right. The fact that it makes you feel good does not make it right.Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change. You must never fear changing from things that are unproductive and ungodly.
To overthink means to think or analyze too much. it is good to think. It is only dull minds which do not think. But overthinking about a situation is not advisable. Overthinking is synonymous to worrying, and worrying is a strong feeling of anxiety. God does not expect us to figure out everything, He expects us to trust in Him and His plans for our lives. The word of God encourages us ‘‘Not to be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition ,with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your mind in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7. See also Matthew 6:25,34.
