Tithe or tithing is famously talked about in Malachii 3:10 where it says, Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, Says the LORD Almighty,and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of Heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.
There are facts you need to know about tithing.They are as follows:
1. Tithe is God’s portion in man’s possessions.
Honour the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops – Proverbs 3:9.(Daniel 5)
2. Tithe existed people before the law of Moses.
Then Melchizedek,king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God most high, (19) and he blessed Abram,saying Blessed be Abram by the God Most High,who delivered your enemies into your hand.”Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.” – Genesis 14:18-20.
3. Tithe was commanded in the law of Moses.
A tithe of everything from the land,whether grain from the soil or fruit from the tree, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD. – Leviticus 27:30.
4. Tithe was commanded in the law of the prophets.
‘A priest descended from Aaron is to accompany the Levites when they receive the tithes,and the Levites are to bring a tenth of the tithes up to the house of God, to the storerooms of the treasury. – Nehemiah 10:38.
5. Tithe was confirmed by our LORD Jesus Christ.
Woe unto you,scribes and Pharisees,hypocrites! For ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cumin and have omitted the weightier matters of not to leave the others(tithe) undone. -Matthew 23:23.
6. Tithe is the proof of God-first mentality.
”And thou shall eat before the LORD thy God, in the place which He shall choose to place His name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine and of thine oil and the firstlings of thy herds of thy flocks, that thou mayest learn to fear the LORD thy God always. 14 And if the way be too far from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set His name there, when the LORD thy God hath blessed thee. 15 Then shall thou turn it into money, and blind up the money in thine hand, and shall go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose. – Deuteronomy 14:23-25.
7. Tithe is man’s obedience to divine instructions.
If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best from te land. – Isaiah 1:19.
